ACAMS Hong Kong Chapter May 2026 Event: Compliance Officer of the Future - Transaction Monitoring and Beyond

Rod Francis is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Hong Kong, China. He leads the Asia–Pacific Financial Crime practice. 

With more than 35 years of financial crime experience, Mr. Francis has led complex, large-scale, regulator-mandated transformation programs at Tier One banks, as well as establishing and leading regional financial crime teams at highly regarded professional services firms. He is an international subject matter expert and a recognized industry figure in financial crime. Mr. Francis has significant and regular interaction with governments and regulatory bodies globally on a wide range of compliance-related matters. He advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters across various industries, though his primary focus is financial services.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Francis served as a Partner with Oliver Wyman. Before that, he was a Senior Managing Director with FTI Consulting, where he founded and led the regional Financial Crime practice. He has also served as the Asia–Pacific (ex-Japan) Regional Head of AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and EMEA Regional Head of Consumer Banking AML at Citibank. Before moving to Hong Kong in 2007, Mr. Francis held senior risk and compliance roles in Europe, most notably at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.

Mr. Francis is a founding member of the Hong Kong Chapter of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).

Olivier is currently the Regional Head of Financial Crime Detection for HSBC in Asia where he brings over two decades of experience and a deep understanding of internal controls, risk management and advanced analytics.

At HSBC, he has been leading teams of data scientists, product managers and control experts for the last 10 years to design, develop and implement cutting-edge solutions to prevent and detect financial crime, such as HSBC’s Dynamic Risk Assessment (DRA) which has received numerous industry accolades.

Prior to joining HSBC, he held various roles at European top-tier banks working in Hong Kong, London and France after having started his career as a cyber security consultant working across Europe. He holds a Master of Information Technology from the University of Sydney and a MSc and BSc in Computer Science from Telecom SudParis.

Rebecca Ho is currently the FCSO Country Head for Standard Chartered Hong Kong where she brings extensive experience across Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance risk management within the banking and financial industry. 

At Standard Chartered, she is responsible for overseeing the FCSO Investigations team in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Rebecca held various senior leadership positions during her tenure of 15 years at HSBC. These roles included serving as the Head of Financial Crime & Money Laundering Reporting Officer and leading the Financial Crime risk stewardship and advisory teams across various business lines in Hong Kong. Rebecca also gained valuable experience in compliance surveillance & operations with other top-tier financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.

Naresh Sakhrani is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Hong Kong, China.

As part of the Financial Crimes practice, Mr. Sakhrani’s primary areas of concentration are anti-money laundering (AML), anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), fraud, and economic sanctions.

Mr. Sakhrani brings over 25 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing financial crime compliance and investigation programs and practices. He has expertise in leading complex investigations, business intelligence assignments, and legal forensic work. 

Notably, Mr Sakhrani served as the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit and AML Data Analytics Programme at Citibank, and the Head of Client Intelligence at Credit Suisse, where, amongst other things, he designed, implemented and manged a Typology-driven Financial Intelligence Unit.

Additionally, Mr. Sakhrani has served in senior roles in the Asia–Pacific region with S-RM, FTI Consulting and Kroll. Earlier in his career, he advised clients on corporate, offshore, and financial services law, working in the UK as a solicitor with Kennedys Law and as an offshore attorney with Conyers Dill & Pearman.

Mr. Sakhrani earned an LLB from London Guildhall University and an LLM in financial regulation and compliance from BPP University. He is a member of The Law Society of England and Wales.
