ACAMS Carolinas Chapter May 2026 Event: Inside Chinese Money Laundering Networks: Typologies and Insights from Banks, Crypto, and Law Enforcement
Registration for this event is now closed. Please email chapters@acams.org for questions.
Overview
Join experts from law enforcement, traditional banking, digital banking, and the crypto sector for a panel discussion on Chinese Money Laundering Organizations (CMLOs) and the growing impact on the financial system. The panel will explore how CMLOs operate as professional, third party money laundering networks, the role of underground banking, and why these networks have become so closely linked to transnational organized crime, including fentanyl related activity.
Through real world insights and frontline investigative perspectives, panelists will examine how CMLO activity manifests across different financial institutions—from brick and mortar banks to digital platforms and crypto exchanges—and where detection challenges commonly arise. The discussion will also highlight what makes financial reporting actionable for law enforcement and how institutions can better align risk management, investigations, and SAR narratives. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of CMLO typologies, emerging risks, and practical considerations to strengthen AML programs. Space is limited. By registering, you are confirming your intent to attend. If your plans change and you’re unable to join us, please update or cancel your registration as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.
