ACAMS New Jersey Chapter March 2026 Event: Financial Investigations and Tax Evasion: Lessons from IRS Criminal Investigation

Dane Carman is a CPA who graduated with a Masters of Taxation from Rutgers University in 2019. Before joining IRS-CI, Dane previously worked in NYC as an International Tax Manager at PwC for 5 years. He specialized in cross-border tax consulting for M&A clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.

Bill Hemmer is a Special Agent with IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) Newark Field Office.  In this role, Bill has conducted criminal investigations involving tax evasion, money laundering, wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and other violations of federal law.  Bill graduated with a Master’s in Professional Accounting from Seton Hall University in 2019 and is a licensed CPA in New Jersey.  Prior to joining IRS-CI, Bill was a Tax Supervisor at Withum where he provided tax compliance and consulting services to hospitals, healthcare systems, and not-for-profit organizations.

Zvi Wiesenfeld is the Abusive Tax Scheme Coordinator for the Newark Field Office and has been with IRS-CI since 2021. Prior to joining CI, Zvi worked as an investigator for the Chicago Inspector General and Philadelphia Inspector General and as a Forensic Accounting Supervisor for Wiss & Co. He is a CPA and a CFE (inactive).
