ACAMS Luxembourg Chapter February 2026 Event: Financial Investigations Lifecycle: From High-Risk Onboarding to STRs & Remediation

Yuri is a seasoned Compliance leader with 20+ years of international business experience in various senior functions. Between 1999 - 2007 he had a career as navy officer within the Royal Dutch Navy, before he left in 2008 for Luxembourg where his career in Compliance started. 

Starting at HSBC where he progressed his career from Senior Compliance Officer to Country Head of Compliance in 2014. Afterwards he worked as Chief Compliance Officer / MLRO at PayPal and Ant Financial (Alibaba’s mobile payments wallet) until he returned to The Netherlands end 2019 to become MLRO for Global Innovation and M&A Risk Management within ING’s Innovation business area in Amsterdam. After 2 ½ years in NL he returned to Luxembourg in April 2022, where Yuri is now Chief Compliance Officer/MLRO at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), Luxembourg Branch. 

Over the past 20+ years he has gained extensive expertise in leading multi-cultural teams, mainly in the fields of Financial Crime Compliance and Regulatory change. 

Besides his Naval Academy degree and a post-doctoral degree in operational auditing from the University of Amsterdam, Yuri is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS®), Certified Anti-Fraud Specialist (CAFS), Certified AML FinTech Compliance Associate (CAFCA) and a Certified Cryptocurrency Investigator (CCI). 

Yuri also enjoys participating to Compliance conferences and sharing experiences.

Sandrine Périot is a Partner at Arendt.

Her role is to strengthen and develop the firm’s service offering around AML/CFT.

Over the years, she has acquired considerable knowledge and expertise in the regulatory framework for the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. Sandrine is a subject matter expert, helping clients in the banking, asset management and insurance industries to face the many challenges entailed by their AML/CFT obligations.

Her experience ranges from the prevention and detection of ML/TF concerns and risks, to the implementation of corrective/responsive measures, including relations with competent authorities, to address potential deficiencies and ensure an adequate AML compliance programme.

Ani Ghambaryan is currently Compliance Manager at Finance in Motion GmbH, a leading impact asset manager with many years of experience in impact investing, with emphasis on generating positive change in emerging markets including countries of the ACAMS Eurasia Chapter, through implementation of impact driven investment vehicles and investment solutions that contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Previously she held senior managerial positions such as Director of Risk Management, internal control and compliance department and a Member of the Management Board at ArmbusinessBank CJSC and an Executive Board Member in ProCredit Bank Armenia, part of the international banking group ProCredit. She was responsible for the implementation and development of the AML/ compliance, internal control and risk management, Information security functions for both banks.

Ani is also experienced and skilled in advisory roles. She has been a successful advisor to the project of implementation and improvement of AML and Compliance functions for a financial institution in Tajikistan and other non-EU countries for a considerable period.

Simultaneously Ani is a lead trainer for numerous international and local certification programs. She has been providing training to the banking sector participants since 2015, particularly on the improvement of AML and compliance, risk management topics of CMI (Chartered Management Institute) certification, FRR (GARP certification).

She holds a master’s degree in finance and banking, and bachelor’s degree in economics from the Yerevan State University, is an active ACAMS member and holds both the CAMS and CAMS-RM Certifications.

Abhishek Dawar is a Director in the AML/CFT practice of Arendt Regulatory and Consulting (ARC).

He is a highly skilled Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) expert with 14 years’ experience, with a particular focus on the delivery of large-scale, complex FCC programmes for the Banking and Asset Management industries. He is also a tech-savvy professional, with broad expertise designing, implementing and testing FCC frameworks and target operating models for AML and Sanctions. Abhishek has advised clients on the AML/CFT regulatory frameworks in numerous jurisdictions, including Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Gibraltar, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Belgium and India.

Prior to joining ARC, Abhishek spent 10 years in the FCC practice of a Big Four firm, where he was an Associate Partner. There he worked on various engagements for financial sector clients, primarily focusing on AML/CFT matters. These ranged from the prevention and detection of ML/TF concerns and risks to the implementation of corrective/responsive measures, including relations with the authorities, to address potential deficiencies and ensure an adequate AML & Sanctions compliance programme.

He is also a member of several professional associations, including the Luxembourg Compliance Officer Association (ALCO), the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL) and the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).

Abhishek holds an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the Institute of Management Technology (India).

Edouard is a Director in the Forensic Investigations, Corporate Intelligence & Litigation Support practice of Arendt Regulatory & Consulting.

Edouard draws on 10 years’ experience of providing financial and risk advisory services to law firms, financial institutions, corporates and public sector entities. He focuses on advising and helping clients on complex investigations and specialises in investigations involving fraud, corruption, sanctions, anti-money laundering violations and employee misconduct. He has extensive experience of providing tailored fact-finding to support litigation.

Edouard is skilled at communicating on complex technical and regulatory topics with law firms, IT teams and businesses. He is also an excellent problem-solver with great attention to detail. Thanks to his technical background (including software development, data analysis and data visualisation), Edouard is able to create tailored and efficient solutions for white-collar investigations to analyse data, test hypotheses and report on potential findings to relevant stakeholders.

Thomas is a seasoned Compliance leader with 15 years of experience. Starting at HSBC in Poland where he progressed his career from AML specialist to Head of Financial Crime Risks Ops for France. Afterwards he worked as Head of Financial Crime Compliance at ICBC Luxembourg. He is currently Head of Financial Crime Prevention at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), Luxembourg Branch. 

He holds a master’s degree in international business from both the Montpellier Business School and the Kraków University of Economics. He is an active member of both the Association Luxembourgeoise des Compliance Officers (ALCO) and ACAMS holding the CAMS and CGSS certifications.
